vB forum average bandwidth usage question...

Hi all,

I haven’t come across an answer to my (somewhat specific) question on vB.org or .com, so maybe someone can give me some more info here.

Recently I’ve reached and passed the max bandwidth (30Gb/month) for my vB powered forum:

Although we’ve got just about 100 active users (we’re exclusive and niche ;) ), we are going towards 10.000 unique visitors a month…which may or may not be that much.

Except for the avatars and sigs we have very little to no images/video’s hosted, just a few attachments…only text, like many forum: see for yourself.

So my question is this:

Is 30Gb bandwidth usage/month, with 10.000 unique visitors a month on a (almost) text-only vB powered forum a lot of traffic/bandwidth or is this kinda normal/average and should I expand (a little)?

Anyone any stats of his/her forum to compare?

I’m already gonna ‘smush’ and optimize all graphics and make sure that Gzip is enabled.
But somehow the amount of bandwidth/Gb a month used strikes me a lot.

Am I being paranoid? Does my (own) template kinda stink? Is it bots or other invisible stuff which could generate traffic?

Anyone any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Thats definitely kind of low. You will have to get a better package from your host if you are thinking of growing. My site is at 500GB/month, just vBulletin. I have 2TB package.

Whatte...!?
Could you please give the URL of your forum? And your host/account plan? If you don't mind.
I have to take a look...!

I can't imagine I can pay the bill with just AdSense for such a big account!
I thought these types of account were only for the big boys...;)
