Is this possible????

Is this actually possible? I want to make this box wider than the default, and I need to know asap if possible:

I want to make it wider a bit, can someone point out how to achieve this please?

Set the width for the column in teh template, ie. <td width="yyypx" etc....

To find the template to modify, do this - vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code.

But will I have to modify the other boxes too, for example the post totals, thread totals etc as im presuming all the width of all boxes together must tally up to the overall forum size? or will changing one box make no difference.

It depends. If you just want that one box to always be 200px wide, then you can just set that one box and let the others do what they want. You can also set them by %, which is what was done on this site.

But which is the best way? I mean, I dont wanna change it, then find out the overall forum size when loading gets bigger in width, then as the browser reads the code it finds another width, then resizes it again id you get what i mean

Try something and see if it's what you want. You can try the widths used here. Or try the widths used on another forum you like the look of. I really don't know what to suggest, it's really up to what you want.

Is vbulletin cross browser? because currently when viewing in IE8 its showing how i want it normally, for all the last post info to fit onto 2 lines, but in FF its all on 3 lines.

That will depend on your style from what I have encountered. Some styles work with both IE & FF & some don't. Same goes with the look of a few mods in IE & FF.
