Cookie Banned Users

I'm having some ongoing problems with user registration.

A few weeks back I disabled non-registered users to be able to see any content on the forums, and unfortuneatly this created a pseudo-ban on a majority of the members of the community. I was able to fix it by issuing an e-mail to the users telling them to delete their cookies. This works fine for the already registered users (just one cookie erase fixes the issue 90% of the time), but unfortuneatly a majority of the users trying to register an account with the website get an error saying that they have been banned forever.

I'm guessing I need to clear the boards Cookies, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that. The Admin CP location for cookies is the default but I'm having issues actually finding it on the server.

If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

I almost went that route and it is not a practical solution.

What are all your setting in vboptions > cookies & header options > Path to Save Cookies (both fields) and Cookie Domain (both fields)?

The default blank and blank...I didn't have a need to change them so I figured I'd leave them be.

You probably have set "This is a banned usergroup" for the Guest / Not logged in usergroup to Yes. Set it back to No.

Thanks Marco, have just found this and it has rescued me from lots of aggro!

Old thread is old, but I just now saw the update for this (sorry I don't visit often enough) and this fixed the problem.
