Preventing threads appearing on new posts

We have just created an RSS news feed and given it it's own subforum. What we would like to do is prevent these posts appearing on the New Posts section.

Is this possible ?

Turn off searching for this forum.

Ah right I didnt realise that option did that, I just thought it's sole purpose was to prevent the thread from being searched.

Cool, thanks.

Does this take awhile to work ? It's just that I have created a new test post in this particular forum that I dont want to be shown on the new posts section and it is still being shown in the new posts, even with my test account.

Is it a cron job ?

That should have immediate effect.

Thats weird then.

Here is the URL i'm going to http://www.onlinearsenal.com/forums/....php?do=getnew

My test post of dsfgfdgf is shown. Even with seaching turned off.

The weird thing is I have the recent threads module on my vba cmps homepage and it is not showing on that. www.onlinearsenal.com

I have just tested this and it seems i am wrong. Even if not indexed for search it will still display in New Posts.

Not sure but i think i have seen a modification for this.

I think i might have found it - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...lude+new+posts

Yep that works great. That will teach me for not searching properly.

And me to test before responding. ;)

Did you create a plug-in to do it? Because there's an easier way.

To exclude forums in the New Posts button, you may add "&exclude=xx" or "&exclude=xx,yy,zz" (separate the forumids by commas) to the end of the New Posts url... ie. "/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=xx" This would normally be in the navbar. I think it occurs in a couple of places there, so you will need to edit each of those urls.
