Are you on a dedicated server?

no
there is share server

If it is a shared server, then the server load you are seeing is for the entire server, not just your forums. That is pretty high for a server though, you may want to mention it to your host and ask if they can move you to a less busy server.

Keep in mind, if the hosting company is using a cluster system for their servers, SQL might not be on the server, so the load can be high with no issues as it may only be serving up pages and FTP and nothing else.

Most of the bigger hosting companies use clusters, check with your host and see.

On that note, if your forums are still sailing right along, no reason to even ask unless you are having issues.

It's pretty obvious that mysql is on the server... vBulletin doesn't operate without it... I'll PM Dreamboxat.com and help them get through this problem... I've delt with it often until I got a private server...

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but does that also apply to a VPS?

You can split PHP and mySQL to different servers.
