mysqldump/mysql version-backup restore question.

i run mysql 5.0.81 community.I use mysqldump to take daily backups and download the backup to my home pc.

suppose,i have to do a backup restore,will the backup from mysql 5.0.81 be compatible with a newer version of mysql.... say 5.1 or 5.4...?

Yes, the backup should be compatible. Unless MySQL significantly changes things (which will not happen in a point release), you will be fine.
