Exporting Skins?

Can you export your skins to your computer? That way, in case something happens, you can load them back with ease? If so, how do you do this?

Yes.

AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Download / Upload Styles

And if it uses custom images, make sure to grab those directories off of your server. Though, hopefully you do a full back-up occasionally anyway. :D
