Delete user, but keep name?

How can I delte a user BUT keep his name on all old posts? Now it seems like system call the deleted user for Guest.

Create a new User Group......call it "Closed Accounts".
Move the user into it, and set the permissions as required.....thus preventing any more participation from that user.

The username on posts does not change, but the users usergroup will be reset to Guest on these posts.
