July 5th Cyber Crash-War?

Hey Everyone,
I guess the U.S. has been under cyber war attack since July 5th from what CNN just reported. Presumably coming from China or N. Korea.

Are you all worried about your forum security? Should we require registration for even viewing until this is resolved?

Any info would be very appreciated as I have no idea about all this stuff.

Thanks!

Gabby

Did you read what sites are (where?) targeted? Is your forum a: Government site, large Financial or Commercial site?

GSeybold 07-09-2009 09:52 AM

Hey Marco,
I just got the last bit of info from CNN. If I'm not mistaken... government, whitehouse, stock market, and some commercial sites. From what I gather, this is now a priority and pretty serious. Although CNN hasn't put it up too much on their website. I don't understand firewalls and all that stuff but CNN reports that whomever is behind this is decoding(?) firewalls as quickly as they can create them?? Whatever that means.

Yes mine is commercial.

As Lasto said, every country will be hacking/spying however you want to put it. Remembering back in the 50s/60s (don't quote me which decade) a U-2 spy plane got shot down with the thinking that the high altitude marvel couldn't be reached. It's just migrated to the cyberworld were civilians as well as goverments can take a sneak peak on whether it's peoples private credentials or classified documents.

Sites are attacked each day, all over the world. If you are under attack, then you will need to take action, otherwise there is not much to do.

I doubt your (not to anyone specific) site is in more risk today, then 1 week ago or next week.
