Style structure

Hi
I am developing a new site and want to set the foundations right and need advice on the right way.

- I believe this is the correct way to set it up
I have left the installed style as it is and disabled it from users choice.
I created a child style off that and made it the default
I plan to have several more styles as time goes by

Template modifications and mod installs is the part I am uncertain about!

If I take for example the navbar template. Each style may have different template mods to it like rounded ends on one achieved by a beginning and end td that contains a rounded graphic. Another style will have different changes to the navbar template.

Down the track I install a mod that makes a change to the navbar template. I take it that I would have to do that manually to each navbar template in each style. I say this as doing it to the standard install style won't cause the change to be reflected in each child style as they have already been individually modified.

So this says to me that there isn't any point in having a "master" style with child styles - is this correct?

Any suggestions on how to set the styles up properly that will give the most benefit and ease of changes in the future is greatly appreciated - thanks!

If you have a Master Style say X.
When you add a child to it say Y, and make changes to the X.. Y will inherit those changes only if the template is unaltered and same as the X.

If you already have seprate templates within child and parent.. it wont take those changes.

Ideally having parent and child is good for same style in fixed and fluid or other style which have identical properties.
