How to moderate a thread but let author read it? (make it a pending 'private' thread)

How to moderate a thread but let author read it? (make it a pending 'private' thread)

I would like my users to post on a given section (sub-forum) of my board, that will serve to publish the threads on my site's vBadvanced first page, but would like to make the thread pending approval from a moderator, so the thread would only be made public after approval.

The idea:
  • a) A user has a good message to post on the 'first-page messages' section (which is a section/sub-forum on my board that will publish the first page's vBadvanced threads);
  • b) The user posts the message (by creating a new thread);
  • c) The thread becomes auto-unapproved (auto-moderated) pending approval from a moderator/administrator;
  • d) Even after posting the new thread, the thread's author could see the thread and the contents of his message (he even could edit the texts) but the thread would NOT be made public yet, as only he and the board's Staff can see/read/edit the thread's content;
  • e) There would be a icon and/or a bold text (either on the postbit of the first post, or any other different location) indicating that this thread is not approved yet!
  • f) When a moderator reviews the thread's content, he could approve it (using normal moderation tools) and thus making the thread made public, or, he could just leave it unapproved (moderated) which would not let the thread to be made public, or simply move it to a different location on the board;
Please excuse my poor english as my main spoken language is portuguese, but I guess that my idea is more or less understandable...

Please post ideas and/or questions so we could all learn a bit more how to do it...! ;)

Thank you all so very much! :up: :up: :up:

This would be a very good idea to let users suggest articles to publish on the vBadvanced front-page, letting them read their post, even before the thread has been approved by a moderator.

Right now, what I have is the most common (but badly) way to do it:
- Users suggest articles on a sub-forum on my board, but the suggested thread stays moderated until some moderator approves it...

I would like to give users the permission to read their suggested thread even when the thread is still 'unapproved'.

How to do it?

Why did you need to bump this old thread, with no relevance?

This might me an old thread, but it is VERY IMPORTANT!

I need to know if someone knows anything about how to implement this...
