Attachment Thumbnails

Hi All,

Hoping someone might be able to help with this question, Sometimes when users add attachments to posts, the will appear only as links and not display the thumbnails and I'm not sure why. I thought it might be the file type they upload, but thats not consistant as sometimes a jpg appears correctly with the thumbnail and other times it can appear only as a link so if anyone could let me know why it does this it'd be most appreciated.
