How Many Of You Use Social Groups Feature?
 

I was wondering, how many of you site owners use the Social Group feature?

I have had 3.7 and 3.8 for quite a while and have it turned off, I just can't find a reason to use them.

We have a few, they're turned on, never prove useful. Sometimes we'll create one, and it'll make sense, but no one remembers to look at them

I'd never have a use for that, forum members rarely visit each others profiles when compared to a social networking site.. It really shouldn't have the focus that it currently has. vB really should have just stayed a forum, if you ask me.

Exact same topic as vBulletin.com much? I use it, kind of, in that I just leave what's on by default active unless I feel like disabling it. It's fairly well used, at least from my experience.

(To the people who want vBulletin to only be a forum, someone said it perfectly at .com, the tagline was Instant COMMUNITY, not Instant FORUM).

We use the Social Group feature. Some groups die out pretty fast but others are very active and are used a lot.

We like the option :)

I agree with social groups, however at my site profile's are used alot

as of right now i have 2240 Vistor messages left on my profile there

Same with us. They are on, but some just never take off and some have several members/messages. We have a Lounge for general discussion and I have found that the groups that were created by members who don't frequent our Lounge actually do better than the others. I think it's cuz the Lounge crew like to talk in the Lounge. The other members like having their own little section to talk.

Dont use them at all, and no plans too.

I use them at the moment, more as a test than anything..

My current member base come from 3 main communities;

• vBulletin (vb.com. vb.org, etc.)
• Xbox.com
• VGN (An old gaming site network)

It's quite nice to let these user groups have their own little private discussion area relative to these external sites.

I just had vBulletin installed for my forum, so I haven't gone into this feature yet. However, I have seen it used (and use it myself) on other forums and find it exciting, so I am going to give it a shot for my forum and see how it goes.
