15,000 websites shut-down. I wonder how many of them were totally innocent in all of this. Too bad the good have to be punished because of the few bad.

yes..i do feel bad of the innocent ones. But because of the latest rash of spamming that has been plaguing the boards, blog and even emails.I believe this is a start to go after them.even if it takes down the innocent. All they have to do is fine another host.

I doubt any. It was the type of web host/service provider who didn't exactly market to regular/good users. It was purely a spam/scam farm.

15,000 web sites are now without a host - im pretty certain another Host will pop up to cater for them all.

Anyone who's worried about the innocent sites, don't worry, this page from the same site addresses that:

It calls on the court to appoint someone who can evaluate the claims of third parties whose data is stored on 3FN's servers, and "coordinate the release of copies of such data to third parties whose data does not appear to relate to the conduct prohibited by the court order that forced 3FN's Internet providers to pull the plug on the company.

Why shut down the hosting provider? Go after the people that are doing the spamming. Stuff like that is a waste of time and money. The people that were sending out the spam should have been arrested and thrown in jail.

Get a search warrant for the persons information from the hosting provider - such as billing address and home address, then issue an arrest warrant. Go to their house at 2 am, kick in their front door, arrest them and be done with it.

I see nothing in the article that says the government is doing anything to stop spammers.

Quote:

The FTC alleges that even though Pricewert officially is registered in Oregon, its principals and staff are located outside of the United States.
Then go to their home country, arrest them and bring them to the USA.

The only reason why we have spam, is because the government does nothing to stop it.

Closing the hosting provider, is like closing a school to stop a pedophile. Its a stupid response to a serious problem. You do not close a school to stop pedophiles, you arrest the person, and put them in prison for the rest of their lives + 1 day.

Because we can't just waltz into any country, accuse people of a crime and extradite them to the US
