link to thread on navbar logging out users

I'm positive I saw a way to fix this before but I can't find it and have been looking for awhile now. I put links in my navbar to specific threads in my forum and when ever you click the link then click the site logo to go home the user is then logged off. I'm pretty sure there is a quick bit of code that will keep the user logged in.
