Links added to the nav bar....

I've just installed the vBadvanced Home Page and it works fine, but as soon as I leave the Home Page to go into my Forum I am unable to link back as I don't have a link installed on my nav bar.

How do I insert a link for the Home Page into the nav bar.:confused:
Easy steps please guys as I am new to all of this.

Thanks.
:cool:

Go to Admin CP->Style and Templates->Style Manager->%YOUR STYLE&->Edit Templates (in dropdown box)->then down to Navigation/Breadcrum Templates->Expand/Collapse-> then navbar

Click Customize

Look for:
Quote:

<!-- nav buttons bar -->
<div class="tborder" style="padding:$stylevar[cellspacing]px; border-top-width:0px">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr align="center">
Add underneath:
Quote:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="YOUR FORUM URL">Portal</a></td>
Change YOUR FORUM URL to the path of your forum index

Thanks, where you said Change "YOUR FORUM URL to the path of your forum index" where would I find this path to add?

lol easy you go to your forum homepage where it shows all the forums and subforums and the currently active users. That is your forum url

should end like /forums/index.php
(depending what directory your forum is in)
If you have more trouble post your site link here

In your navbar template find:

Code:

<!-- nav buttons bar -->
<div class="tborder" style="padding:$stylevar[cellspacing]px; border-top-width:0px">
        <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
        <tr align="center">

After that put in:

Code:

<!-----Link to Portal (Home)----->
                        <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="http://www.yourforumname.com$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[portal]</a></td>
<!-----End Link to Portal (Home)----->

Save the template.

Then create a phrase called Portal. The text for the phrase can be anything you wish. I use Home. :)

Change YOUR FORUM URL to the path of your forum index

All done, that worked great, :up::D
next thing for my nav bar is to insert a Forum link, this link is where I want it to direct me to my main Forum, same code as above with a different path?
If so where would I find the main forum path within my Admin Panel?

Thanks.:cool:

josh2007 06-02-2009 03:45 AM

yes and your admin panel path should be yourdomain.com/forums/admincp

New Joe 06-02-2009 03:49 AM

Sorry, I didn't mean an Admin Panel path , I meant a path to my main forum.
Where you I find that path to insert to replace, <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="YOUR FORUM URL">Portal</a></td>
(Your Forum)
Thanks again.

josh2007 06-02-2009 03:51 AM

should be http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/forums/index.php

replace YOURDOMAIN with whats between the www. and the .com lol

also if you dont like the word portal you can change Portal in the code and change it to whatever you want to appear in the navbar
