Mebership Number

I run a forums which is used for a kids football, we now want to make it member only (members of the football club) so I need to know is there a way I can tie in their club membership number somewhere in their profile, I guess what I'm looking for a a field that only Admins can add their membership number to.

Or do you know of a more efficient way of doing this Vb7

Cheers

Chet

Well,i can't see using "location" in your user's profile serving much purpose..maybe adapt that.

You could make it so only certain usergroups may see the forums and then move the members that have a membership into that usergroup.

That field is used, but thanks for the reply though.

Just make a custom profile field... make it private.. and not editable by users

Thanks for you replies; looks like the custom profile field is the way forward, I would like to take this one step further now and I think I'm nearly there.

At the minute the club just uses excel for their members database which is kind of a pain in the butt because there are no reminders that can be sent out to you so this is how I'm thinking of doing it.

Set up paid subscriptions in VB and install a reminder mod, this way we get reminded and we can also set up a user group so we can send mail shots out to them too, however I would like the moderators to be able to see the paid subscriptions when they log into their mod panel, is there anyway I can achieve this.

Also is there a way that I can add a users to the paid subscription from either searching for the user or look at their profile and be able to add them there or is it a case of adding them through the paid subscriptions link.

Thanks

Chet

This is the way I have moved forward, I have added a new "User Profile Field Categories"
and under there I have added 3 new fields with the following settings

Field Editable by User "No"
Private Field "No"
Field Searchable on Members List "Yes"
Show on Members List "Yes"

I would like a certain group to be able to edit these fields but not have them be admin permissions, is there anyway I can achieve this at all?

Thanks all

In Usergroups permissions, isnt there the facility to allow "edit members profile"

Sure that its simple radio button click and away you go

If there is I can not see it, the only option I have is "Can Edit Own Profile"

Cheers
