code settings

As in when we do a code in square brackets [ ] .... I assume there is a number of characters wide that it shows before it adds the slide bar, just wondering if it was possible to increase it as I think adjusting the number would mean more is shown before having to use a slide bar and some things wouldn't need a slide bar.

Also is there a program or something when putting text in a code that eliminates all the extra spaces...it would be good if there was something that you could say have no more than 2 spaces between columns...etc

I'm sorry, but I have no clue what you are talking about. A slide bar where? And a program where to put what text in code or.... I just don't understand what you are talking about. Perhaps an image would help?

Ok, sorry if I am explaining it incorrectly, here are some pictures.

The first one is the code window without a slide bar because the text doesn't go all the way accross.

The second one has the slide bar because the text goes further than the size of the window, I am wanting to know how I can change what I assume are charater settings so the window is wider and hopefully avoid the slide bar.
e.g. say the window is 60 characters wide, I want to make it 80 so more fits in before the slide bar is created.

The third image shows tables or columns but notice how there are excess spaces between Club and Date and also Opposition and Ground, I didn't know if there was a way around getting rid of the big spaces without having to change each one manually... is there a program that can format the text so the big spaces are removed or can be made smaller.

The code box width is set under Style Manager > StyleVars > Code Block Width (pixels)

I'm not sure about removing the spaces though. I think it's because the code block is preformated text which means it leaves in the tabs and spaces.
