Is there a way to optimize the search speed?
 
It can take up to 1 full minute to perform a search on my site :( (http://darkztar.com/forum/index.php)..
We've got +25700 members and more than 789000 posts..

I'm on a shared server hosted by hostgator.. Is there something I can do to improve the search speed?

You're getting to the point where you're "outgrowing" shared hosting.
