Forum Manager > find your forum to edit > Prefix for Forum Status Images

Prefix for Forum Status Images
Forum Status images are usually shown alongside the forum in a forum listings to indicate the read status.

This prefix must only contain alphanumerical characters, though the following are also allowed - _ / ., a folder name is also acceptable to be placed within the status icon directory.

The following images are currently in use for status icons, you will need to create images with the specified prefix to match.
  • forum_link.gif
  • forum_new.gif
  • forum_new_lock.gif
  • forum_old.gif
  • forum_old_lock.gif

I don't have a link handy, but this question is brought up about once a week. Do a search and you should find some threads about this.

What Lynne already posted in her first reply is EXACTLY what the site you linked to is doing. Follow the steps she provided.

What about the icons inside each forum subtopic? For example I have three sections of my forum, cars helicopters and airplanes. I've been able to get the correct icons for each main section, however I want to have icons (like helicopters for the helicopter forum) to have a helicopter to the left of each thread title.

These are the files I need to have customized for each forum

thread_dot.gif
thread_dot_hot.gif
thread_dot_lock.gif
thread_dot_lock_new.gif
ect
ect

For the listing of all the topics in a given forum using the prefix heli_ work on all the topics. When I tried creating files like I have listed above with the artwork I wanted, a prefix of heli_ and the files named correctly it does change the icon for threads within a topic. Anyone have any suggestions?

i changed this

Prefix for Forum Status Images
(This prefix will be used on status image filenames for a forum, it can only contain A-Z, 0-9, -, _, . and /)

to

/images/talk.gif

and nothings changed?

i want different icons for each forum?

I have no idea what the "New post in forum sorta one" is, so I can't help you with how to edit it. Perhaps an image?
