Need some help displaying subcategories

I'm working on a category manager for an app I'm doing and I'm trying to figure out how to code the part that shows all the subcategories for each category. I'd like to do something similar to how the forum manager displays forums and subforums. I've gotten as far as listing all the parent categories. I'm using the following article as a model.
