New post button

Some of my users are having problems with the New Posts button. It tells them there are no new posts. For others it seem to be working fine.

We haven't noticed that it is a browser issue because they are using different browsers.

Any suggestions?

What type of forum read marking are you using? (vboptions > general settings)

thelilypad 05-14-2009 06:04 PM

Inactivity/Cookie Based

Using that type of marking, then every time they leave the site, all threads are 'marked read'. So, the next time they come to the site, they will only get new posts since the last time they were there.

Ohhhh!!! Gotchya!! Which option should I try?

Lynne 05-14-2009 06:34 PM

I use the third option, but I think it is up to you.

Thanks.

Nope changed them and still not working. I have tried all three options.

Can you give a specific example of what you see as the problem?

thelilypad 05-14-2009 09:37 PM

They just aren't able to view the new posts. It tells them there are none.

We have checked to see if it's a browser issue and it doesn't seem to be, IE and Firefox users are having the problem. And we have checked to see if it's a usergroup issue. That we aren't able to eliminate yet.

So how many new posts are there supposed to be for them? Do you have a test account to try this out?

Try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

PHP Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);
