Upgrading forum... do you loose registered users?

Ok i have to renew my subscription ive bought like 4 years ago and ive decided to start up a forum again and i was wondering if i download the lastest version and then when vb 4.0 comes out will i still have all my forums / users when i upgrade? i dont plan on putting any mods/hacks on it until the 4.0 release.

Thanks,
boo

Shouldn't be an issue. I would imagine that if upgrading caused you to loose registered users as part of the upgrade process, folks wouldn't be using the software. ;)

Ok thanks my man! and also what about posts/topics? they stay there as well?

Biker_GA 05-13-2009 12:18 PM

Same with the topics.

Depending on what your last version was, I believe there's a specific upgrade path you need to follow. For example, I don't think you can go from vB2 straight to 3.8.2.

I was just thinking the newest version 3.8.2 to 4.0 when it is released

Biker_GA 05-13-2009 12:27 PM

Ah, OK. You're starting from scratch? Then there will be no issues at all when upgrading from 3.8.2 to 4.0. (Although I'm not going to upgrade right away until the mods I'm using are also upgraded.)

Ok sweet deal thanks my man. Yeah starting from the bottom.. and i dont plan on doing in mods/hacks until 4.0 is released so i think im in good shape =)

Biker_GA 06-04-2009 07:33 PM
