Hostgator is down
From their Twitter account: "Network issues at our datacenter. We're working on it now. Things should be back to normal shortly."
|
my account with them is unaffected?
|
They were only down for 25 minutes according to Twitter and came back online about 10 minutes ago.

I hate issues with hosts. That is not acceptable to be down with them. They need to have backups. This grinds my gears.

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
I've seen a major email service go down with multiple SAN and multiple backup redundancy. Everything was restored correctly with a downtime of a couple of days (happened over weekend). No email was lost either (incoming mail was pooled). |

any host that offers 99.9% up time IMO isnt worth going with.
Downtime is something as a web site developer/forum admin, you have to deal with. In the 3 years i've been with hostgator i've probably had 2 or 3 downtimes, which are usually resolved within an hour. That to me is a good host IMO |

I didnt realise hostgator changed it to 99.9% lol
shows when i last had an issue with them. I am with hostgator and have been for over 3 years without and severe problems, and my site has only ever been down around 2 to 3 times and was back up within 30 mins |

No, but really, are you kidding me? Go buy a server and run it yourself if you expect perfection; That way the blame is on you when it goes down. Computers are still computers at the end of the day. |
