Require a Payment to Post in a certain section - possible?
 

I want to set up a section of the forum, that is open to posting, but before you can make a post, you need to make a payment.

So basically:

* person registers
* goes to forum section A
* hits new thread
* gets message saying 'you must donate $2 to post in this section'
* person pays $2
* person can then post their thread

Is that possible?

This has been brought up recently and I don't think there was ever a solution.

I know you could say, require a "$5 donation" for them to become a "gold member". Then just make only "gold members" able to create threads.

So you wouldn't be charging per thread, but for the ability to create threads for x amount of days.

Oh, and there are mods that limit how many threads a user in a specific usergroup can make (here's one i found real quick https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...=limit+thread*)

So maybe you could combine that with the idea I posted above... who knows...

This is a good set of ideas to implement that idea with existing mods! (I have been thinking about a pay-to-post for a classifieds forum that gets very heavy traffic and does not pay its way at all)

I'd like a pay-per-thread mod too. Anyone up for doing one?

Would you want people to pay every time or just the once??

Every time in my case. I would be putting it as a pay to advertise so I would want it to allow a single thread creation and not restrict "replies" as such.
