Car hits crowd on Dutch Queensday

Two people have been killed and 12 wounded when a car careered into a crowd of people watching the Dutch royal family riding past in an open-top bus, police said.

Queen Beatrix was in the bus with her family when the small black car zoomed past. The crowds were behind barriers off the road, but security officials and journalists, including many cameramen, were in the road as the car went by.

The car crashed into the low metal railing around a column on the side of the road. The car appeared heavily damaged even before the crash, but the reason for that was unclear. The reason for the crash has not been revealed and there was no word on the condition or identity of the driver.

The bus was not hit and no one in the queen's entourage was injured
Looking at some of the pics in the link above,i actually throught it was a wind up because in 2 pics u see a policeman stood there while there is an injured girl and a man are left on the road unattended. He stood there but looking away and not bothering to help as if he on guard duty.

I think it went too fast for that policeman to notice.

4 kills till now, could be worse I guess. If the car would have driven straight, he certainly would have hit the bus. And if he would have had explosives..

- another victim has been deceased (5th)

- the driver has rumored to be braindead, confirmed is that he's in critical state
- he had no crime records
- had personal problems presumably, like payment trouble and forbidment to see his children
- confessed directly after the colission that he targeted the royal family

Shame he died, now he won't be able to suffer himself. Hope he rots in hell.
As for the other innocents, what a waste of life, so sad.

Goes to show, that in this day and age of gobal terrorisim you can't drop your guard, no matter how nice and sunny it is outside.

Made the UK papers this morning
