I have checked that. Godaddy say that it's not their problem - it's the software. How can i make this less server intensive? It has been working fine for months - and nothing has changed and now it's not working :(

I was just able to get onto your site, which is currently closed, but it took a LONG time! So, something is going on that causes it to take a long time to load. You may want to disable any modifications that are server intensive while you figure out what the current problem is.

I disabled ALL mods that i had - but that hasn't changed anything. I am with GoDaddy - but have now purchased an account at Hostgator - here's hoping that helps.

This is most defintely a godaddy thing, not a software thing. If you are getting "timeouts", then this is a server side thing, not a software side thing.
