Shared Accounts Accross Multiple vBulletin Sites

Hi there.

I am currently using phpBB3.0.4 and I'm seriously thinking of switching over to vBulletin if I can get the following answered:

Is it possible to have multiple sites with different vBulletin installations, with different forums and categories share a user table?

What we want to do is combine all our sites so a user only has to register once and then be able to access all the sites with a single user account. When they register, they become part of the default group. The default group has the basic permissions accross all the boards, but the user will have a different avatar, sig etc. Only the username, password and email is shared.

I have managed to get this to work with phpBB3 but the board is a little unstable and has a load of features missing that vBulletin offers.

If there are any bridges or sync'?ng tools available to do this with vBulletin, please le me know.

I thank you for your time :)

there is a existing addon for multiple-sites using the same users database..

it's free once you are licensed.

good luck!

That is GREAT!

Do you know of a series of sites that are using this? I wanna give it a bash by registering on one site and testing it out on all the sites it's shared with.

Not very speedy sales team you got here.

There is, but it's buggy and its not optimized for big boards since most of the mods releases need to have all forums tables on a single DB. Weird.

The best option will be when vBulletin allows OpenID and creare your own identity provider or use existen ones.

I am aware of this because I need a tool to share multiple logins throught a forum network for my company.

My 2 cents.

vB.org is not sales. :) It is run by volunteers, but ultimately, it is the members that provide the "meat" to the site (i.e. modifications, styles, etc.). No one here is employed by Jelsoft (well, except for Marco, he is our link to Jelsoft).

To answer your question, I don't know which modification nex is talking about. However, I know that it can be done and it exists (I've created one myself, but it's not available for download or purchase).

Ok, well thanks for your replies, but doesn't really make me wanna run out and buy vB.

Why don't you want to sell or share your mod Dismounted?

It was created as part of an agreement that does not allow me to re-sell.
