Google Maps in Events
 

Any mods or advise on how I can make this possible? I'd like a user to insert a location of where the event is taking place and have a small google map placed into the event listings.

Just a quick bump if anyone has anything on this?

I've actually done this already, but it's not prepared to modification release. Give me a few days to bring it up to standards.

Can't you just use the google map BB Code in the event?

I just tested it on my forum and it worked.

Having a bbCode for it will allow members to put up maps anywhere on the site (including places a map should not go). Anyone can post a map anywhere, including private messages - wherein internet predators make it that much easier to lure unsuspecting victims to a location (or learn the location of their victims).

You also run the risk of opening up exploitation, consider if someone were to discover a means of injecting code to the javascript that Google Maps requires to run. Unless you update your bbCode to fix such an exploit, anyone could turn your website into an unwitting host for malware.



So some people do not want to make a bbCode for it. ;)
