Shared Child Forums

Hi

I am looking to rearrange my forum soon, and I am not quite sure of the best way to do it. If I could give you a little background and then ask for your advice I would appreciate it.

I currently run an Oregon snowmobile forum. I would like to expand it to Idaho and Washington. However, we want to keep the feel as “localized” as possible. I would like to have 3 distinct sub-forums: Oregon, Idaho and Washington. Within those there will be child forums such as riding areas and safety.

The riding area child forums will be specific to each state, so they can function as normal. However, I would like to share content from the safety child forums. Would it be possible to have the safety child forum in each of the Oregon, Idaho and Washington sub-forums, but have the content show up in each? I.e. if I post something to “safety” in the Oregon sub-forum it also shows up in the Idaho and Washington “safety” child forums?

My goal is for people from Oregon to never have to leave the Oregon sub-forum, so it retains a local feel. However, the more general content should be shared across Oregon, Washington and Idaho to benefit from expertise across the membership.

Does this make sense? I have included a simple diagram below to help illustrate.

What is the best way to set things up to meet this goal?

Thanks!

---->Safety (Shared Content)

-->Idaho

-->Washington

---->Safety (Shared Content)

this can be possible, i had the plans to create a addons to make it so... i do not have it yet though...

the only thing it need is to check the forumid of these shared forums and display them in the list like the others, it's just a small edit to functions_forumlist.php
