is there a way to remind users that haven't logged in for x amount of days that we miss them?

I think there is a mod for that. Just do a search in "all mods" and you should find something.

Many times a mod for an earlier version will work on your version. You should read the thread and see if anyone has posted about whether it works, or has problems, for your version.
