Forum Marked as Read (Forum Home)

Hello, and thank you for your time first of all.

I am currently in the process of creating a new theme for my forums, and one of the users has noticed a feature missing from the default theme on the forum is missing from the new one, and I am somewhat clueless as to where it has gone, or if I have to enable it.

The feature is where you are able to click the status icon from the forum home twice to mark every thread marked as read. I have skimmed through the forum home templates, but I am struggling to see if I have accidently removed the code which allows the forum to do this.

My forum is located at: http://www.animetake.com/forums/, if you would like to see the new theme to see this error, it's called AnimeTake:sys, and it's selectable from the theme box at the bottom while I work on it.

Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about clicking the little status icon next to the forum title, then those are not in the FORUMHOME template. To find the template, do this - vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code. Sometimes the template is the one mentioned at the very top of the page source.

Hmm thanks, I didn't know that such a handy feature existed, however that isn't the primary problem I am having.

Any Images being used or using AJAX I can't change and keep the original function, without keeping the .gif format (which is horrible). I have no clue whatsoever how to change how this is working either, as I would prefer to be able to use a quality file type and keep the features available to those of a horrible one :/

Through my search, I found someone had the same problem with me on the vbulletin.com forums, and they got told to post here to find out how to do it.

Have you done a search through the vb files to see if the old image name is actually hard coded in the code? You'll need a text editor that will search through all files in a folder.

I did a search and so on, but couldn't really find anything. I just ended up renaming the .png files to .gif on the server, which seems to be working fine.

Seems quite odd, I had tried editing the forumhome templates which called .gif to call the .png instead, but either way everything is working now, in a somewhat archaic manner :p

Now I have to work out how to change the text color in 'quick edit' box, as it's calling smallfont, which is white, and the editor (wysiwyg?) is light-grey, and unfortunately I'm not sure how to recolor the wysiwyg editor :<

Thank you for your time and effort though, and if you are able to provide a solution to my current problem, it would be much appreciated!

Find the template with the text you want to modify and just add a style to text you want to change (ie add style="color: black" to the tag).
