Stopping Spammers?
 

How is it possible to not allow new members to post links in their profile/signature etc ?

i have my forum set to moderate new members & when they register, 99% of the time they put porn links in their profile or sig

How can i stop this?

Use Promotions to move your users from the Registered Users group to a Trusted Users group after x days or y posts. Then set the Registered Users group to not be allowed to have signatures.

1. Will that work? as they can enter details (links) when registering

2. Ive tried the promotion thing before & selected they cannot edit profile until they have 5 posts, but i still notice they put links in their profile

Put links where in their profile? If they can't edit it, can't use a signature, no custom title, etc, then where are they adding stuff?

Each forum will find it's own way to deal with spam successfully. On my site, we hardly ever get any spam. We mods fight over who gets to use the One Touch Spam Ban modification button. (I don't know why - we just all like to do it.) There are a ton of mods here to deal with spam. Go search them out and try some.

I guess its trial & error then.
