Smilie text replace change

When my forum was just getting started I was well... lazy. I uploaded an obscene number of smilies and didn't bother to sort them or edit what the replacement text was.

Is it possible to change the replacement text of a smilie and update all of the posts using it? Or use multiple replacement texts for the same smilie without having duplicates?
