RSS/"New Post" Issue

Hey there,

We recently added some boards that are dedicated to RSS feeds from other sites. Everything is working great except for one issue... "New Posts."

Our members like using the "new posts" to see what threads have been posted in since their last visit, but since we set up the RSS feeds, those threads have over-run the "new posts" list.

Is there anyway to block certain boards (or even users/usergroups) from appearing on the "new posts" without taking away access to those boards?

I appreciate any ideas, comments, or suggestions you can think of. Thanks again.

To exclude forums in the New Posts button, you may add "&exclude=xx" or "&exclude=xx,yy,zz" (separate the forumids by commas) to the end of the New Posts url... ie. "/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=xx" This would normally be in the navbar. I think it occurs in a couple of places there, so you will need to edit each of those urls.

Hmm... it's giving me

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
I attempted with excluding a single board, and attempted excluding multiple boards.

I noticed our "New Posts" is slightly different than the example you posted.

Any more help you can provide? I appreciate it.

Show me the exact code you did in the template and maybe I can see what is wrong with it.

someone here have to learn the default config of vBulletin...

AdminCP >> Forum Manager >> Edit your forum where the RSS Feed is sending the new threads

setting: Index New Posts in Search Engine .... set this to NO, and the New Posts will not check it.

I did that but it still didn't stop it from showing up in "new posts". It did stop the threads from showing up in searches though... (which I actually need to undo)

No problem... I thought the same thing until I did it, and it didn't work.

But I used the first suggestion and I got it to work.
