Importantce of Tags

what is the Importantce of Tags really, currently i have turned off it. but like to now what is the advantage of tags?

It makes searching more accurate. Tags are "keywords" for posts. The more tags that match the search query, the more likely it is that you'll be able to find a relevant post. Also, if you see a tag and click on it, you can find other posts with the same tag - which makes browsing for posts easier.

I find that most people don't take advantage of tags for forum posts, but they do for blogs. I think it's a pretty good move to turn them on.
