Showing only New Posts in Thread
 

I've searched and in over a year, haven't seen this as a patch or add-on. For now, I'm only asking if it's possible and perhaps where to look to try and write.

Or best yet, some good programmer thinks that it's a good enough idea to program. There are a lot of other forum software out there that does have this feature, it would be a great feature to have.

As our forum grows and some threads grow more than a few pages long, it would be nice to show something like "New Posts" before any thread that has new posts. Clicking on the "New Posts" icon would take you to the first new post in that thread.

I could edit the threads, but if there's say 20 new threads with new posts, it's quite time consuming to click on the thread, then click on "First new post".

I'm quite astonished that no one else wants a better way for members to have a very easy way to only see the new posts to threads.

Is there anyone that can help me with where I might find the php file or template where this might be implemented?

All you have to do is click on the little icon before the thread title, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/04/10.gif, in forumdisplay or search and it takes you right to the new posts.

Thank you very much. Somehow I must have missed that in the instructions. and Never found anything else that addressed how best to view new posts.

Excellent and works quite well, I many look to replace that check mark with the word "New".

How can i activate that " go to first new post " hack Lynee mentioned, on my forum ?

It isn't a hack, it is default vbulletin. If you aren't seeing it on your site, perhaps you have a custom style and they didn't add in that part of the code. Also, the default icon doesn't look like that, it looks like this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

It is not avalaible on default template too. Somehow i have turned off that. But i can't find it now :(
