do your vb forum succes or not? there are very many of them not succesful

Guys i just wanna talk about there are very many not successful vbulletin forum

sometimes i browsing using google to look and analyze some forums, most of them just only have millions of alexa rank or few hundreds thousand of alexa rank, only few of them have alexa rank under 100.000

my self running a forum for 2 years and i think i am successful with alexa under 10.000 rank now and more higher, (it is higher than vb.com and vb.org it self, and same online user like offtopic.com in primary category), but of course there are a lot bigger forum out there

few weeks/months again i am thinking to create my second and the third forum.... with the same recipes that i use to build my first forum, i had read almost all suggestion and experience from older member in vb.com and vb.org (there is also a category in DP called Forum management that have great info about building forum)

i just wonder why there are very many not succesful forum that using vb, do they didnt build and promote it?

how they feel, and what i feel if i build another forum and fail, because the vb license is very expensive

just my two cents guys :p

Alexa is far from being significant if you gauge the quality and success of a website... it just count the number of hits on your site based on search engines...

the only way you can calculate the success of your forum is by evaluating if you have enough members and enough activity on your forum -- FOR YOUR OWN TASTE...

Alexa rank, from what I heard is pretty useless as a success indicator because it relies on people using the Alexa toolbar when they access your website, so it's more an indication of how many of your fanbase use something considered spyware by some anti virus programs. But seriously, success is generally relevant to forum topic and what not, and on a per forum basis.

Don't attack him too quick guys! lol. I think he was just using Alexa as a resource tool to show his website's growth more than anything.

Basketman, the truth is your forum wouldn't be half as successful if everyone knew that "secret code", right? There are millions of vBulletin websites. Some owned by businesses, individuals, teenagers, the list keeps going. Some are also more hobby-based or private, while others were strictly made for monetizing.

How many threads have you seen on vb.org alone asking people how to gain registrations or further monetize their vBulletin? vBulletin (and any website or software for that matter) isn't a one-step solution to success. With good trial and error, a strong knowledge on your software and its capabilities, a proper business plan, and a good marketing concept - that's what will rise you above the competition. Assuming you have it covered financially of course ;)

It depends on your definition of success.

If you mean money all but my latest forum are on track to pay for themselves soon if not already.

Just because someone owns a race car, does not mean they know how to win a race.
