Plugins, Hooks and everything else...

Is there an indepth tutorial into how to create plugins and add hooks. I want to make plugins but Im stuck at the first hurdle :(

Yes but they don't really start from scratch. I had to do so much googling in the end to work out how to do this. Its really hard for a newbie to get started.
