manage attachments problem

im try to load a pic and i get this error message. what does this mean?

Code:

Could not create file system directory to hold your attachment

Lynne 03-01-2009 11:10 PM

Are you storing your attachments in the filesystem (check attachment storage type)? If so, make sure the directory is writeable - usually you need to chmod it to 777.

FRANKTHETANK 2 03-01-2009 11:24 PM

i already did this. still doing this error

--------------- Added [DATE]1235957294[/DATE] at [TIME]1235957294[/TIME] ---------------

also should i being storing in database for file system?whats better? and where is the setting to change it to store in database?

Then check the paths for your attachments because if the directory is writable, then I would guess your path is incorrect.

FRANKTHETANK 2 03-01-2009 11:34 PM

but where do i change path?

Lynne 03-01-2009 11:40 PM

Well, it says what it thinks the path is in the forum attachment type. It will say "Attachments are currently being stored in the filesystem at xxxxx" and that should be a full path from absolute root... so something like /home/yoursite/attachments . If it's wrong there, then you would "move items to a different directory"

FRANKTHETANK 2 03-01-2009 11:45 PM

well forum was moved recently. so i might need to change that. does it run off config? so when it was moved should have fixed itself right? should i just move them and store at database?

Lynne 03-01-2009 11:48 PM

No, it doesn't run off of config. The path is right there on the screen I told you about. Make sure that path is correct or choose to move/change the path. If you say switch to database, then you will lose your attachments because it can't find them to move them to the database.

FRANKTHETANK 2 03-01-2009 11:49 PM
