How can I get birthdays displayed in footer sidebar?

I have a sidebar column who's code is in the footer template and im trying to get TODAYS BIRTHDAYS to show there but when I copy the code that displays TODAYS BIRTHDAYS in FORUMHOME, it only shows the little birthday cake icon, but no birthdays... the birthdays show up on forumhome, so i know theres birthdays today...

what am i missing?
