Database error in vBulletin :

mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
/home/beneamat/public_html/includes/class_core.php on line 311

What this means?

looks like username / password error or port error on database . where do you get this message ?

Ensure you have entered the correct database username & password into your config.php file

I get the same error, more often than I should.

It happens across 2 specific boards I run (out of 4 with vB) but are shared on the same hosting account.

Obviously all of my DB information is correct, but it seems like there's a hiccup possibly on my hosts' end when I get those errors.

How often do you get that error?

Its a misconfiguration on the hosting server

http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/cantconnect

Contact your hosting company, or find better hosts.

As i own my own server, i make sure all server settings are correct as my customers wouldnt be happy when it happens.

None of my customers have had any problems

digif 02-26-2009 05:36 PM

this is first time, I get it on mail

thnx bsmedia

well i suggest you look for a decent hosting provider

If this is a once of occurrence, the advice to jump ship isn't really needed. What might have happened is the host restarted the MySQL daemon to clear something up. You only need to be concerned if this happens a lot.

Yes, I realise that :)
nothing special
