Where are subscriptions processed?

I'd like to do a few extra things when a subscription to a thread is processed. Where would I be able to find this?

Basically I'm looking to trap when a thread is replied to, and someone has a subscription to that thread. I want to add in some extra functionality and can't find the location of this.

They are processed just after the post is added (newpost.php).
