buttons help

Hey guys i have found a new set of buttons i want to put on my forum so anyhow i went and d/loaded them, then went into my Cpanel to put them in, but when i replace the old ones with the new ones nothing happens? Can someone direct me in the right file, as i think i have been uploading to the wrong spot. Sorry for my dumbness hehe.
