How do you un-ban someone?

How do you un-ban someone?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had a setting wrong and the Vbulletin automatically banned my test account when I tried to register it.

I accidently had my settings set to "Yes" for "Require Unique Email Addresses"
"The default option is to require unique email addresses for each registered user. This means that no two users can have the same email address. You can disable this requirement by setting this option to 'No'."

So I switched it to No, and I still cannot register with a test account. It keeps coming up with:
The following errors occurred during your registration
The administrator has banned your email address. To contact the administrator click here

The email address is not in the "Banned Email Addresses" area. ACP> User Banning Option > Banned Email Addresses nor is the IP address banned.

So where else can it be? There has got to be a log that I'm not finding....

Check the usergroup, it's probably set to banned members.

edit: sorry misread your post there

According to the message, it should be listed in the box you checked already, unless your using a addon hack that deals with registrations.

Disable the plugin system via the admincp and see if it allows you to register.

Being a nube, I look in my banned users and only the orginal banned people are there, not my test account...
I disabled "one-touch" ban, and my spam filter too.... Still nothing...

Whats listed in the box for banned emails?

Whats the domain that your currently trying to register with?

Ask at vBulletin.com. I'm sure they will have a better answer as this forum only relates to small vBulletin issues.

Just in case this happens to any other people, here is the solution:
"The "Banned Email Addresses" setting is supposed to be delimited by spaces, not line breaks. That is most likely the cause of your problem.

You need to fix the formatting of the banned email list. You can confirm the problem by temporarily clearing out that list and trying to register."

I fixed this by erasing all of my spammers IP and Email address in my
ACP>vBulletin Options>User Banning Option>Banned IP Addresses
and
ACP>vBulletin Options>User Banning Option>Banned Email Addresses

God knows, why my failed users weren't on those lists, but by erasing the list it seems to have worked.... Note to self, never use a line space, always just a regular space between each user.

Hopes this helps someone....

You CAN use line breaks, as i asked you to post what you had in the box, it would of been possible to tell you were you had the error at.

That recommendation actually came from the Vbulletin support team. After thinking about it, and to keep the members email and IP addresses private, I rather just kill the list (since I'm a brand new site), and just start a new one.

I know it's probably not the best thing to do, but to me, it's the right thing to do (ie keeping peoples email addresses off the internet).... Spammers, well, that's a different subject.

Anyways, I really appreciate your offer to help. But I had to do this way to maintain my own values of not risking anyones personal information....

I had something similar happen a while back, and it took me two days to find the simple solution - I had a space between an "@" and the rest of the email address, so it was banning pretty much everything.

Hard to see the spacing with the standard VB fonts, but when I pasted it to WordPad, the error was obvious due to the non-formatted spacing.

And BTW, yes we use line breaks, and never had a problem with that.
