changin password

Hi
I want to change the main password to the CP. Anyone any pointers?
Thank you so much.

Marco van Herwaarden 02-11-2009 10:06 AM

What do you mean?

singa 02-11-2009 10:31 AM

I am the Admin. But becuase since I bought vBulletin it's not functioning well I have to give my password of the main admin to someone. someone I have never met but who tells me he has a vBulltin. I advertised in the paper to get someone to fix the problem. This means that when he's finished I will have to set a new password to prevent him for going back in later.

You can change the password of any user by editing his profile in the AdminCP.

It's not working for me.
How or where is this config.php file?

Below the message I got when I tried to change the password:

Sorry, this user is protected from being altered in the config.php file by the $config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] variable.

The error message indicates that this user is set to be protected against edits in the config.php file. If you have access to the account, then you can also change the password in the front end (ie. UserCP -> Edit Password). If you need to change it from the AdminCP, then you will first need to remove the users userid from the $config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] variable, edit the password and if wanted add the userid back in the config.php file.

Bedankt Marco.

Any pointer as to the EXACT location where the config.php file you mentioned is located?

Is it in "Pluggins and products" by any chance?

Marco van Herwaarden 02-12-2009 11:13 AM

The config.php is a file located in the ./includes directory. You can use a FTP program to download the file, edit it on your PC and upload back to the server.
