Unified Search Engine

Is it possible for someone of programming savvy to release a mod for a unified search engine?

What I would like to see is single search box that had only a text field and a search button, but it's results had a filter at the top that let you choose select any number of radio buttons for forum, blogs, members, or for what ever products that you had installed.

Is this likely to happen? It would be a hit!
