Error when registering user that was registered already

Here is the error that shows up when I try to register a user that already registered. The page looks like it refreshes and the error below shows up on the top of the page. ANy idea what could be the problem? Its a new vbulletin setup and was imported from Punbb. version 3.8

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: regular expression is too large at offset 51953 in [path]/includes/functions_user.php on line 849

Then I get this when I do register a new member- in addition to the one above

Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: /home/cncmach/public_html/cncforums/includes/class_core.php
Line: 3254

Thanks
Jamey

I would globaly disable the hook system via your config.php if you can't enter the admincp and disable the plugin system.

If the error goes away, then this is related to a hack you have installed on the forum.

The 2nd error could be related to the first error or is possibly a permissions error with the directory permissions.

Also what version of vb are you running?

I added this line to my config --define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); and appears that the hacks were disabled. I can log in with any registered useers or my main admin user just fine. the problem only comes when I try to register a user. Emails for confirmation are never sent for the user that registered. The vb user is logged in the datbase as waiting confirmation though. Vbulletin 3.8 version

Thanks

Try this:

Create a new style with no parent:
Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style :
Parent Style: No Parent Style
Title: Default vBulletin
Allow User Selection: Yes
Save
Then go try to register and see if you still have the problem.

in your vbulletin options --> user reg options

whats in this box?
Username Regular Expression

Whats in this box?
Illegal User Names

in your vbulletin options --> user banning options

whats in this box?
Banned Email Addresses

Empty out all 3 and save the options, copy anything u have in there now for a backup.

Thanks snakes what did it was email stuff in the ban box. I forgot in my testing stage I took a banned email list from a recommendation on the forum to place in there. Somehow it was blocking several of my email addresses. Maybe I reenabled it just recetently by accident or something because I was using the same email addresses before to test the registration process. I guess I still wonder though if there was something wrong with the vb on why the errors were comming up? Maybe just some bad characters in the stuff I copy and pasted possibility?

Thanks for everyones suggestions and help!

No, that error stated a regular expression issue, add the list here in a code box, i'd like to see what was causing the reg exp issue in the list.

Your welcome.

OK I just deleted it and did not back it up but I will check in my database backups and see if I can pull it from there.

np, if you dont have it, just wondered what was causing it.

helps others in the long run.

Ok here here it is I restored my old database. I copied and pasted it out of the vboptions block. Its to big of a file to post in these forums apparently. So here is a link to download the file. I made it a zipfile since it didn't open up right when i went to the link.
