shared hosting vs dedicated hosting
 

I have a vbulliten site at www.corporatefactors.net

I am currently on a shared hosting program with my server at telus.com This means the sql servers are shared with other sites I guess.

I am getting a lot of script errors like the one below. I have very little traffic on my site but it keeps crapping out for the od 10 or so people a day who come to the site.. Telus says its the script but all who have looked at my site say its because vb is so database heavy I need to be on a dedicated server or a VPS.

I am paying about $50/m or so for shared hosting if I go deciated it could be as high as $600/m.

May I know what other VB owners are doing as far as hosting and resolving this sql problems.

The extract you posted does not even contain the error. However, if you are paying $50/month (assuming US dollars), that is already a lot. You could probably get a decent VPS for that amount of cash.

For hosting discussions or server optimisation, please use the forums at vBulletin.com.

If you are getting very little traffic in your forums its not necessary you need a dedicated hosting, Plus $50 a month:eek: is far too heavy cost for shared hosting, and you can get a decent shared hosting with decent space and band width for around 5 to 10$ a month and the errors are not due to vbulletin script. I think some people are misguiding you!

first change the server if you are paying $50 a month for this crappy server..
