Last Edited By..?

Hello,

I notice when I edit someone's forum post, it will say "last edited by admin" ... I want to assign certain members the ability to edit people's posts, however, I don't want anyone knowing who edited the post... is there a way to do this?

Or perhaps just make it say "last edited by user group" (as opposed to lasted edited by user name).

Thank you in advance for any help.

Check the usergroup setting for the users usergroup - Show edited by note on edited messages? > No

And look for the same setting in Forums & Moderators > Show All Moderators > Edit Permissions for each moderator.

Hello Lynne,

Thanks for answering my question... I was able to this:

Check the usergroup setting for the users usergroup - Show edited by note on edited messages? > No

I set it to "No" ... I was not, however, able to find this:

And look for the same setting in Forums & Moderators > Show All Moderators > Edit Permissions for each moderator.

I notice when I edit comments, it will still say "last edited by %user%" ... please help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I don't want people knowing who edited their post. Thank you.

Hmmm, I could've sworn it was listed there also, but I guess not. I don't know if when you change it if it changes the Edited By on past posts. I think you need to go hit Edit on it and Save in order to remove it. I'm not sure about that.

Hello Lynne,

Thank you for continuing to help me... I was able to change the setting you mentioned in the "user-group" area (as I already mentioned)... I then tried editing someone's forum post, and it did say "last edited by %user%"

So I guess that let's me know I am missing something....

What I find strange, however, is when I edit someone's post using the main admin account, it will not say "last edited by admin"

*This is how I want it to work with my new user group... if you have any other ideas regarding what I am doing wrong, I would be most appreciative.

I don't suppose you put a comment in the Reason for Editing box? If you do, then it will add the Edited By message to the post.

Hello Lynne,

You hit the nail on the head, thank you. I was actually thinking about that when I tested it and still did it any way.

Thanks again for your help.
